Fanore - Inis Oirr Charity Swim 2026: In Aid of Galway Autism Partnership

In July 2026, one of our own here at Galway Camera Shop will be taking on the challenge of a 16km solo swim in skins from Fanore to Inis Oírr, crossing in aid of Galway Autism Partnership.

He has been doing months of training, in all conditions. But this swim is about far more than endurance — it’s about raising meaningful support for an organisation doing incredible work in our community.

Galway Autism Partnership provides essential services, advocacy, and practical programmes for autistic people and their families throughout Galway city and county. From social groups and life-skills training to parent supports and community education initiatives, their work promotes understanding, inclusion, and independence. They make a genuine difference to families who rely on their services every day.

Our goal is to raise a minimum of €16,000 — that’s €1,000 for every kilometre he’ll swim across the Atlantic. It’s an ambitious target, but we believe it reflects the scale of the challenge and the importance of the cause.

We’ll be sharing training updates and progress in the months ahead, and we would be hugely grateful for your support — whether that’s donating, sharing, or simply cheering him on.
