We’re posting this to help one of our customers and to raise awareness about a very convincing scam currently doing the rounds.
A customer recently sold his Fujifilm X100 VI with brown leather case privately online. He met the buyer in person, who showed what appeared to be a banking app confirming payment had been sent. Unfortunately, this turned out to be a sophisticated fake “EPS-style” app designed to mimic real banking platforms — making it look like funds had transferred when, in reality, they had not.
By the time the truth emerged, the buyer was gone, along with the camera.
If you see a Fujifilm X100 VI with a brown leather case for sale locally or online, please contact the Gardaí immediately and DM us directly so we can pass the information on to our customer.
We’d also urge everyone selling gear privately to wait until funds are fully cleared in your own account before handing anything over — screenshots or apps shown by buyers are not proof of payment.
