Every aspect of the SP 70-200mm F/2.8 G2 Zoom (Model A025) has been enhanced, delivering high image quality and improved blur. Optical design features include XLD (eXtra Low Dispersion) and LD (Low Dispersion) glass to eliminate chromatic aberrations throughout the zoom range, ensuring optimal resolution, even at the edges. This new zoom-specific eBAND coating provides superior anti-reflective properties, significantly reducing flare and ghosting. And subtle bokeh delivers spectacular background effects from almost any angle.
MOD drops to 0.95m
Improvements to the new SP 70-200mm F/2.8 G2 extend to the lens barrel as well. Tamron has reduced the MOD from 1.3m (50.7in) in our old model to 0.95m (37.4in), allowing for a maximum magnification ratio of 1:
6.1. The shorter MOD, combined with the superior optical performance of this new zoom, allows you to greatly expand your field of expression.
Precise in action
A USD (Ultrasonic Silent Drive) ring motor, combined with two high-performance microcomputers, ensures excellent focusing speed and accuracy. Full-time manual focus override allows you to make fine adjustments while using AF without having to switch from AF mode to MF mode.
Hold steady with VC by 5 stops
Tamron's best VC* image stabilization performance is 5 stops**, based on CIPA standards. Additionally, the lens offers a choice of three VC modes, including one dedicated to panning. You can now adjust the VC mode to suit your shooting conditions and enjoy sharp, shake-free handheld shooting even in low light.
Compatible with the new Tamron teleconverter
The SP 70-200mm G2 is compatible with the optional new Tamron teleconverters, which match the optics of the lens. They offer 1.4x and 2.0x magnifications and offer a maximum zoom range of up to 400mm. These new teleconverters extend the focal length of the main lens, making it possible to shoot at further photographic ranges.
