Untill very recently this lane or narrow street was in a state of ruin. Thankfully it was beautifully restored during the 90’s .
Its named after the Kirwan family, one of the 14 tribes of the city. In the past a theatre company operated out of the lane, set up by ‘’Humanity Dick’’ to indulge his wifes passion for acting. Theobald Wolfe Tone, leader of the United Irishmen and 1798 rebellion appeared in a play here with Mrs Martin.
The beauty and visual interest of this street lies in its tightness of space, and the fact that most of the original fabric of the medieval buildings have been preserved so well.
