32.5MP APS-C Sensor & DIGIC X Processing
At the core of the EOS R7 is a 32.5-megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor, balancing resolution, speed, and low-light performance for both photography and video. As one of the first APS-C cameras in the EOS R lineup, it benefits from a 7K capture area that enables oversampled 4K video with improved sharpness and image quality.
The DIGIC X processor, borrowed from the EOS R3, powers high-speed performance throughout the camera. It enables continuous shooting up to 30 fps with the electronic shutter or 15 fps with the mechanical shutter, with AF and AE calculations performed before every frame. Sensitivity ranges from ISO 100–32000, expandable to ISO 51200, allowing confident shooting in challenging lighting conditions.
Advanced Dual Pixel CMOS AF II
The EOS R7 features Dual Pixel CMOS AF II, delivering fast, responsive, and highly accurate autofocus performance across the entire sensor area using 651 automatic AF points. This advanced phase-detection system offers intelligent subject detection and tracking, capable of recognising people, animals, and vehicles and maintaining focus throughout high-speed burst sequences.
Autofocus remains reliable even in low light, with a low-luminance focusing limit down to -5 EV, making it suitable for nighttime and low-contrast scenes.
High-Speed Shooting for Action & Wildlife
Designed to keep pace with fast-moving subjects, the EOS R7 excels in action photography. Capture decisive moments with:
- Up to 30 fps continuous shooting using the silent electronic shutter
- Up to 15 fps using the mechanical shutter
This makes the camera particularly well suited to sports, wildlife, and dynamic subjects where timing is critical.
UHD 4K Video with 10-Bit & Canon Log 3
The EOS R7 is a powerful tool for video creators. It records UHD 4K video at up to 60p using the full width of the sensor, with 10-bit sampling and Canon Log 3 support for increased dynamic range and grading flexibility.
For enhanced image quality, the camera can also record oversampled 4K at up to 30p using a 7K capture area, reducing noise and moiré while improving overall sharpness. Full HD recording up to 120 fps is available for smooth slow-motion playback.

Sensor-Shift 5-Axis Image Stabilisation
A built-in sensor-shift 5-axis Image Stabilizer compensates for up to 7 stops of camera shake, enabling sharper handheld shooting in low-light conditions and more stable video capture without the need for additional support.
OLED EVF & Vari-Angle Touchscreen LCD
For precise composition, the EOS R7 features a 2.36-million-dot OLED electronic viewfinder with 1.15x magnification. Fast processing ensures minimal lag, and a 120 fps refresh rate delivers smooth, natural motion.
Complementing the EVF is a 3.0-inch vari-angle touchscreen LCD with 1.62-million-dot resolution, ideal for shooting from high, low, or front-facing angles. Touch control enhances usability for both stills and video.
Robust, Intuitive Body Design
Inspired by the professional-grade EOS R3, the EOS R7 features a dust- and moisture-sealed body, making it suitable for use in demanding conditions. Redesigned rear controls include a combined AF point selector and rear control wheel, placing essential controls within easy reach.
Dual UHS-II SD card slots provide flexible file management and support high-speed continuous shooting and fluent 4K video recording.
