The Canon EF-S 10–18mm f/4.5–5.6 IS STM is a compact, flexible wide-angle zoom designed specifically for APS-C Canon EF-S-mount DSLRs. High optical quality is maintained through a four-group zoom design that incorporates one ultra-low dispersion element, one aspherical element and one large-diameter element. This advanced construction helps reduce chromatic and spherical aberrations, producing sharp, clear images with accurate colour and minimal distortion. Super Spectra Coating is applied to individual elements to suppress ghosting and flare, ensuring strong contrast and colour neutrality even in challenging lighting conditions.
For smooth, quiet and accurate focusing, the EF-S 10–18mm f/4.5–5.6 IS STM features an STM stepping autofocus motor supported by a rear focus system, advanced AF algorithms and a high-speed CPU. This makes the lens well suited to both still photography and video recording, while full-time manual focus override gives you added control when fine-tuning focus.
The built-in Optical Image Stabilizer provides up to four stops of shake correction, helping to minimise camera movement when shooting handheld in low light or at slower shutter speeds. This allows for sharper images and more stable footage without the need for additional support.
A rounded seven-blade diaphragm contributes to a smooth, pleasing out-of-focus rendering, enhancing shallow depth-of-field and selective-focus techniques. With a 67mm filter thread and a compact form factor, this wide-angle zoom is easy to carry and practical for everyday shooting.
